About
Dr. Heather L. Cardin & Dr. Ralph S. Cardin
Drs.
Heather and Ralph Cardin are Certified Acupuncturists, Certified
Applied Kinesiologists, and Licensed Chiropractic Physicians.
Their approach to healing is a holistic approach. They include
the concept of the Triad of Health into every person’s
clinical picture. The Triad of Health is a theory that everyone’s
health is represented by a triangle with each side represented
by structural, chemical, and emotional components. They include
chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, herbology, homeopathy,
nutrition and soft tissue mobilization into their treatment
plan. Drs. Cardin believe that the body has its own “innate”
ability to heal itself if given there are no external obstructions
to this process.
Drs.
Cardin believe that wellness goes beyond the old idea that
health is merely the absence of illness. Wellness implies
a proactive stance towards achieving optimum physical, mental,
emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Prevention
is an essential part of wellness – catching potential
problems before they cause disease or disabilities.
Our
goal is to help restore the body’s natural
ability to heal itself through balancing structure, nutrition,
and emotions. Chiropractic and Acupuncture when used together,
present a strong joining of two sciences aimed at restoring
the healing energy of the body. These sciences are inter-linked
because a subluxation (spinal misalignment) can cause an imbalance
in the body’s electrical pathways (acupuncture meridians)
and a meridian imbalance, likewise can cause a subluxation.
In treating patients, Drs. Cardin evaluate
and treat the whole person with the end goal to heal and balance
the structural, mental, and chemical/nutritional components
of the body. Each patient has individual treatment needs which
are determined through a careful examination. Our goal is
to have the patient get well and stay well in an environment
of professional care, love and concern. We want our patients
to get healthy and stay healthy through continued preventative,
proactive treatment. We desire to have a clinic based on maintaining
the highest reputation for courteous, professional, efficient,
and ethical healthcare. At Cardin Chiropractic and Acupuncture,
PA, we want everyone involved to win: Chiropractic, the Patients,
the Support Staff, the Doctors, and the Clinic must all win.
Chiropractic
and Applied Kinesiology
Chiropractic is the science and art of examination, diagnosis,
adjustment and treatment of malpositioned joints and structures
that are contributing to pain or failing health, without the
use of surgery or drugs. The ultimate goal is to relieve the
stress on your nerves, joints, bones and internal organs through
the maintenance of a healthy and functional spinal column. Applied
Kinesiology is a system that uses muscle testing, through the
body’s own energy, to evaluate the nervous, vascular,
and lymphatic systems; nutritional, acupuncture and cerebrospinal
fluid needs. Muscle tests are applied to different areas of
the body in a manner that evaluates a specific muscle. The weakness
indicated is not only poor muscle function, but also possible
trouble with the organ and/or other tissues on the same nerve,
vascular and nutritional grouping.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a Chinese healing approach based on a 5,000+
year old system of natural healing. Over the past 5,000 years
it has evolved into a complete medical system that can diagnose,
treat and prevent illness. Utilizing the premise that most diseases
are the result of malfunction due to disrupted energy, acupuncture
is concerned with restoring proper energy flow to the various
organs, glands and tissues of the body. Thus, restoring the
person to optimal health.
Hair
Analysis and Saliva Testing
Hair analysis is a great way to determine the major mineral
balances and ratios in a person’s body. Nutritional physiology
takes place at the cellular level, not within the blood or any
other location. Tissue mineral analysis (hair) provides information
directly about cellular activity, the main site of nutritional
metabolism. The hair analysis can also detect the presence of
toxic metals.
Salivary
testing - Monitoring plasma steroid levels is essential
for the clinical assessment of a patient’s endocrine
(hormone) function. Saliva is an important diagnostic tool
and provides optimum sampling conditions. The non-invasive
nature of saliva collection and the convenience of multiple
samples facilitate the design of functional assays for the
assessment of various endocrine functions.
Allergies
There has been an increase in pollution in our environment.
Commercial crops are grown with artificial fertilizers and then
the foods are chemically altered during the processing stage.
The inability to tolerate many of the foods and additives in
our diet today, as well as constant exposure to environmental
chemicals, is directly associated with several disorders. Diseases
in all ages of the population are growing. Food allergies are
the most commonly undiagnosed illness in medicine today, food
allergies can be attributed to or be responsible for nearly
every ailment known to mankind. We identify the food allergy
or sensitivity and discover why the body is incapable of fighting
off some adverse environmental factor. Treatment is then directed
to that causative factor. The natural approach is an effective
method for the long term cure of allergies and the cure comes
from within the body.
